Destination Defender:A Journey Into the Wild with Purpose and Presence

From May 16–18, the Defender community came together not just to celebrate a vehicle, but a way of life. This wasn’t about horsepower or off-roading (which, we must mention, is strictly prohibited in our fleet). It was about the stories we tell through motion, and the quiet stillness in between. The weekend unfolded like a beautifully crafted journey—equal parts rugged and refined.

Nestled in Port Jervis, New York, Cedar Lakes Estate provided the perfect backdrop for the weekend’s adventures. With wide-open fields, sparkling lakes, and miles of wooded trails, the land itself told a story. A canvas for connection, reflection, and discovery.

This year marked the fifth anniversary of the Defender Service Awards—an initiative that honors organizations using their Defenders to do good in the world. These vehicles aren't just for style or show; they’re tools of purpose, used by nonprofits to reach remote communities, deliver aid, and respond to crises. The weekend’s heartbeat pulsed with that same spirit—one of service, resilience, and community.

Opening ceremonies offered heartfelt reminders of why this gathering exists: not just to admire machines, but to uplift missions. We listened as award recipients shared their fieldwork—tales of disaster relief, wildlife conservation, and human connection forged through miles traveled. Each story made it clear: a Defender is more than a car. It’s a companion in compassion.

For the active spirits, there were guided trail runs, and fly-fishing clinics. For the seekers of stillness, forest bathing and lakeside breathwork brought a return to self. There were no wrong paths—only ones that felt right in the moment.
